Printer Copier
A printer copier is yet another example of the all in one machine design. It utilizes a printer that can double as a photocopier. The biggest difference between it and a traditional copier is that it will print more slowly. This is because a photocopier has a far different printing setup that allows it to run off a sheet in a second or less, while a printer’s method requires more time per sheet.
Newer printer copier models have made great strides in raising their copies per minute. A top of the line model can print over 60 copies a minute. That’s still not as fast as an actual photocopier, but it’s fast enough for most people’s needs. If you’re shopping for an all in one, or just something that can print as well as run copies, the pages per minute is an important factor to look at.
Pages per minute (PPM) is a statistic that just about any printer copier will have on the packaging, or on the in store fact sheet. If it’s not readily available, you should check with a salesperson to see what it is. In fact all printers and copiers use PPM to ascertain the output potential for different machines. Since the actual printing method varies model to model, PPM is a good method of comparison.
